In the second chapter, we find Rob and Young heading to their classroom. They end up having to do a test, and they have a female substitute. Rob is able to convince her to not let them do the test. And in this chapter we hear the back story of Young. Throughout the novel, we are looking through Young's eyes.
Later on, the 4 boys are in the cafeteria, and Rob develops a plan to make Simon Glass popular. Rob is walking through the cafe and he sees Simon sitting alone. Rob walks up and asks Simon if he can sit. Simon seems nervous and says nothing. But eventually lets Rob sit with him. The boys talk for a bit, and Rob sets his plan into motion later on.
