In this chapter, the boys head to Simon's home. Simon's home was huge, and glorious. High ceilings, marble foyer, and a glass chandelier inside. The boys look around and admire his home. They then head up to his room, and disover his closet. Which held only 6 or 7 shirts, white or pale blue, and 5 pairs of navy blue double-knit slacks. They tell Simon that he needs to start renovations as soon as possible. Which they do. They then head to the mall, and get started with Simon's new look. New shirts, new pants, even a new haircut. They make Simon look brand new. And more approachable. Later on, after returning from the mall, Simon tells Coop that he organized his notebook. Making it neater and more understandable. Coop then thanks Simon, and tells him that the next morning they will be running at 7am.
When Young gets home from Simon's house, his father is waiting for him. Mr. Steward then tells Young that he is disappointed in him for switching out of biology an into creative writing. Young tells him it's cause of his weak stomach, but Mr. Steward wants his son to be a doctor. The 2 get into an argument and then Young goes into his room. Screaming into his pillow, and when he calms down, he writes a story.
